ABOUT THE SHOW
KW Productions presents a fundraising production in collaboration with the Leicester Drama Society

GYPSY tells the true, humorous and powerful story of the rise to fame of Gypsy Rose Lee, star of 1930s burlesque and her tempestuous relationship with her ambitious mother Rose. The “King Lear” of musical theatre roles, Rose is a force to be reckoned with as she throws all love interests aside, ambitiously pushing her daughters June and Louise to stardom.

With a fabulous score by Jules Style and lyrics from Stephen Sondheim, including the memorable songs 'Let Me Entertain You', 'Everything’s Coming Up Roses', 'You Gotta Get A Gimmick', 'Some People' and 'All I Need Is The Girl', GYPSY is a real treat not to be missed!!

REVIEWS
“Having seen Gypsy performed professionally a few times, this was my first amateur production. It’s no exaggeration to describe it as the best I’ve seen…..Director/Producer Keiran Whelan-Newby and Assistant Director John Bale pulled off as breathtaking a production of Gypsy as you’re likely to see…..Every member of the cast contributed to this excellent production…..Debbie Longley-Brown wasn’t just good. She was phenomenal…. she captivated the audience and inhabited the character through all its emotional and relationship changes. A remarkable performance…..This was a production we would gladly watch again, and again.” (Colin Blackler, District 6 NODA Rep)

“5* If you’ve never seen ‘Gypsy’, productions don’t come much better than this one….a rich, nuanced musical full of heart, edge and an incredible leading lady, this one really does come up roses, and is too good to miss!” (Rob Bartley, East Midlands Theatre)

“4* Keiran and company have once again managed to achieve stellar work, creating a superb production of a classic musical. I attended alongside my father who said he preferred this production to a professional production we'd seen together previously. This production will entertain you and then some” (Beyond The Curtain)

“The whole show is ridiculously well cast. …a slick production - even the choreographed set changes are breath-taking at times….I don't give star ratings on dress rehearsal reviews, but for the other reviewers who will follow me, I really don't know where you'd mark this down. You must go and see this!” (Tom Young, Niche Magazine)

“Debbie Longley Brown heads a stellar cast….there are no weak links in this fast paced excellent production, congratulations to KW Productions” (Lynette Watson, Leicester Mercury Review)

“Everything’s coming up roses” because KW Productions have done it again! A truly superb roundup of talent and exceptional performance from the entire cast and crew" (Emily Bale)
